Its been awhile since my last post. I apologize. I’ve been busy planning my own daughter’s mermaid party. She turned 3 this past week. My best friend/photographer, Terri, created this awesome slideshow of the event.  Enjoy (we’ll chat about all the details soon!)

Asian Celebration July 22, 2009

EASY sushi to make really!

EASY sushi to make really!

My friends and I want to plan a progressive asian party. Coincidently, I have a  kimono robe compliments of a friend who traveled over to Japan.

Each of us has been assigned an appetizer,  main course, or dessert. I lucked out and got the sweet course.

So this is what I’m planning on doing is to cut out rice crispy treats with a small circle cutter. Wrap fruit roll ups around the outside of them and adorn different ways (see pic).

Two steps in a kid’s birthday party are making a craft of some sort and a thank you favor. The latter step has become very popular in the past decade. I have mixed feeling about this but we will address that at a later date.

For simpicity sake, I suggest using your craft as one of the party favors. For example, at a pirate party children can decorate foam treasure box frames.

Many different styles be found at www.orientaltrading.com.

A picture taken at the party is then put in the child’s personalized frame. Its a thank you that will remembered for a long time.

There’s a lot to love about tennis. Not only is it a fun sport to play but its also a very social activity. Every season we have an end of the year party, I hosted one a few seasons back. My center piece was a tall glass vase full of tennis balls. Cute idea but done often. I found something new though for the next party. Check out these recycled tennis balls…what a creative eco-friendly idea!

Time for dress up! July 12, 2009

butterflyWhen planning an event, I like to dress the part or at least wear something that represents the theme of the party. My daughter’s 2nd year birthday party was butterfies so of course, she had to wear wings the day of the event. 🙂 I also had her dressed in a beautiful smocked outfit owned by a dear friend of mine. My daughter’s 3rd birthday is coming up and I’m having the best time planning it. The theme is “mermaids.” I usually don’t tell anyone what I’m doing before the party but I just have to give you a sneak peak at one of the menu items.Whale

I am a cupcake kind of girl. They are easy and not just for kids.
At your next mexican-themed ADULT function, why not try these “margarita” cupcakes? What a festive treat they will be!!

As a hostess, there is nothing more annoying than guests who don’t RSVP.

The definition of “RSVP”means the invited guest must tell the host whether or not they plan to attend the party. Personally, though, I find that “REGRETS ONLY” gets a better response.

Found this idea on www.mibelloboutique.com,   What a great craft to do at the party. You simple glue a small piece of ribbon to your flip flops and then slide your alligator clip bow under both pieces of ribbon.

The possibilities are endless!
